THE STORY BEHIND OUR REUNION by Lynne
Hello to all! Hope you're all having a great Monday morning. Time flies. It has been a week since we held our Masquerade Night in Las Vegas.
In the late months of last year, it has been decided that our batch should celebrate our 20th anniversary since our culture club days. And so it began. It was no easy task but it was well worth it. Las Vegas Reunion was decided, taking precedence over New York and Florida. It all started from a very simple idea of a reunion to the grandiosity it has eventually become. With this grandeur scope came some bumps including and not limited to a mild to total retroversion to HS life that almost made the path such an arduous climb. But thanks to some good friends, the journey became tolerable.
The spectacle night for our Las Vegas Reunion was decided to be held at Paris Hotel and Casino's Versailles Ballroom. The contract for the event was signed by both parties on June 09, 2008.

I must admit, Zamboanga edition reunion was decided at the last minute. I had to make sure that my plan to go home was truly a feasible one before I jumped the gun. I was so impassioned to include as many, from our batch, as possible in our celebration and I was not disappointed. With the enormous support and help of good friends, Zamboanga Reunion became a reality last June 27, 2008.
A little over a month after that horrid 3rd day of Aug, our dearest reunion secretary, Hector Jopson, touched down into LAX international airport. His arrival gave me a great sigh of relief. We then held a committee meeting, deciding on activities and whatnots for the upcoming reunion.
It was a good night. Following that night was the grueling task of putting things in perspective for our three-day affair. I was faced with the disappointment of having people back out at the last minute but I was still in high spirit for those who are so adamant to celebrate with us. I must say, because of our reunion, I learned the art of groveling since I was not abundantly supplied with punctuality in every conceivable aspect. But the worth of seeing our batchmates happy, during both our reunion celebrations, justified whatever downtime I experienced. WORTH = PRICELESS!!!
With this email, I, personally would like to thank everyone. Most especially, those who were really able to bear with me "come hell or high water." To our sponsors both for Zamboanga and Las Vegas Reunion Celebrations, THANK YOU. To all my friends in Zamboanga, I know I harassed you to death with my constant demands, I don't know how to thank you but THANK YOU. To my friends here, you know who you are, THANK YOU. Were it not for all of you, none of this would have been possible. Sorry if I ran your text messaging bill so high these past months. To my husband, who lost a lot of weight, for bearing with my constant "I'm busy, I wasn't able to cook" THANK YOU. To our Almighty, for showering me with grace and giving me the tenacity of mind and body to bear the adversities that our reunion brought, THANK YOU!!! ooops, didn't mean to make this sound like an academy award speech.
Anyhow, reunion pictures part 1 will be released anytime today so watch out for it....For now, let me leave you with these...

Alfred supports the cause. Lance Armstrong is a motivational icon. Livestrong bracelets were given away as a gift from Alfred during the Masquerade2008 reunion in support for his father who is fighting cancer. "wear the bracelet and let those living with cancer know that they are not alone in this battle" (excerpt from Alfred's reunion closing remarks)

COMMITTEE FINAL MEETING
Hector "mystery person" as mentioned in Lynn's emailS, Gustav "our masquerade night MC"
and Charles
And thank you to Gustav Salazar for the wonderful dinner treat. That night also brought the committee fun meeting Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao.
Hello everyone! We are four days away from our 20th year HS Grand Reunion Las Vegas Edition. Regrettably, not everyone in our original list of attendees can make it. But "THE SHOW MUST GO ON." Paris Hotel and Casino's Champagne Ballroom is waiting for our batch to "rock the house down." Last Friday, your reunion committee, held our last meeting for our event. And what an event that night gave us! On top of our meeting, we were there to cheer Charles' first public performance of his talent. As shown in the photos below

12 MORE DAYS TO GO
Hi everyone! We are now the 13th of Sept and after 12 days, we will be seeing you all at the Rio Hotel and Casino for our meet and greet. There are slight changes to our ITINERARY and much to our greatest hesitation, we have to tweak our schedule to fit our budget. With this said, we are replacing our Cruisin' Back to the 80's night to a night at the Polly Esther's Culture Club room. In the next few days when all essentials have been settled, we will be posting the initial breakdown of our budget to give you all a clearer picture of what we, the committee, are faced with. We do not want to impose more from anyone esp this close to our gathering and to compromise, we decided on taking out our "Cruisin' Back to the 80s." But since Polly Esther's Culture Club room is 80's based, you are still most welcome to surprise us with your 80's best attire. Remember, this is Las Vegas, the more outrageous you are, the better it is.
As I'm composing this email, I am watching the video of our Zamboanga Batch '88 Reunion and it really brings back good memory. The word "FUN" cant even begin to express what we, Zamboanga Ateneo-Pilar Batch '88, experienced last June 27th. It would be a nice reprieve for the committee more so for me, if our Las Vegas Reunion would mean a "success" too...These past few weeks have been a "Chopsuey" of all feelings, emotions and fastidious unsound health condition(s) but despite all, we are still very much looking forward to the grand time that we are to have on Sept 26-28, 2008.
As it stands, our IT will run as follows:
Sept 26, 2008 - Meet and Greet at the Rio Hotel and Casino
19:00
- VooDoo Lounge at the Rio hotel and Casino (optional)
Sept 27, 2008 - Bowling match at South Point
13:00
- Watch a Movie ? (still open for suggestions)
- Cathay house (just for Dinner- still under negotiations)
18:00
- Polly Esther's Culture Club (optional additional $50/person)
23:00
Sept 28, 2008 - Thanksgiving Mass at the Shrine of the Most Holy Redeemer
10:00
- Group Photo at the Welcome to Las Vegas Sign
11:30
- MASQUERADE FANTASIA NIGHT
19:00 ( Please try to be in and around the area of our ballroom by 18:30)
On Sept 10, 2008, the US Pilar-Ateneo Batch '88 Committee met up at the promenade here in Los Angeles for some sculpting of our activities. On Sept 19, 2008, we will be holding our last and final meeting before our reunion. Members of the committee, I expect a complete attendance (JEEZZ - demanding ba?). Same place, same time...
Reminding those who confirmed and have not sent in yet their contributions, please do so ASAP. I will be leaving for Las Vegas on the 24th of Sept for final arrangements, so I need to have your contribution on hand before that date.
I spent last weekend in Las Vegas with two very good friends of mine. One from Michigan, who really flew to LA just to extend me some help. To Chuchu2, thank you...
